Every year the American Motorcyclists Association sponsors the AMA Supercross. This indoor motorcycle racing series is held in 17 United States cities and the event lasts from December through the month of May. Riders accumulate points for each race and also go through a series of eliminations. Eventually one rider emerges victorious.

There are three total winners of this series. The major event is the 250cc class and there is a Lite event for the East and one for the West. It is also called the 125cc class. The Lite classes each have eight rounds, while the 250cc class has seventeen.

This kind of race is considered special to many US racing fans. Some motorcycle races are simply bikes moving at fast speeds around some kind of track. This series is held in football and baseball stadiums and it is "off-road" in every sense of the word.

The track is dirt and contains a number of obstacles. Motorcycles must maneuver through jumps and all kinds of twists and turns. In the event of rain, the laps are reduced and the race goes on. However, riders will be making their way through mud instead of dirt, and this can become very entertaining and interesting.

This series takes place all over the United States. You can attend them in New Orleans or Daytona. They are also seen in Seattle, Toronto, and Las Vegas. In the Midwest you can watch this series in St Louis and Indianapolis.

The AMA Supercross Race is an exciting series that can be viewed on television. However, television cannot compare to the experience of seeing the bikes up close and smelling the dirt and exhaust. The roar of the engines and the crowd is something that cannot be duplicated on the screen. It is best to plan ahead and get close up seats, if you are going to attend. This is an event for the entire family.
