America the folk rock band whose knowledge in other rock genres range from soft rock and pop. Formed by multi-instrumentalist Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Berckley in 1970, America was famous for their string of hit albums and singles like “A Horse With No Name” and “I Need You” both from their debut album. Four decades into their career has them currently still recording and touring regularly taking their set-list from a catalogue of over 20 albums to choose from. Their 2007 album “Here & Now” was a collaboration with a new generation of artists who had credited the band with being an influence to them. America was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and have received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They released their Hits: 40th Anniversary Edition in 2011 also releasing Black Pages in 2011. Black Pages is the seventeenth studio album it was the band’s first album of cover versions of songs by some of their favorite songwriters. Their most recent release, Blow UP the Moon is a successful collaboration with tracks co-written by Hanson, Jewel, Rome Ramirez (from Sublime with Rome), Dirty Heads, Plain White T’s, and many others. America was desperate to find a way to help their music sound fresh and new they were looking for a way to change out their normal to think outside the box, this newest work is said to be one of their all-time best.
