Quack, Quack, Quack! Do you remember that movie, The Mighty Ducks, that came out in 1992? The team is based off that movie. The Mighty Ducks were formed in 1993 by the Walt Disney Company and was later sold to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, who changed the name to the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, where they play at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The leader of these Ducks is Randy Carlyle, who has been coaching the Ducks since 2005. In his second year with the Ducks, he was able to guide them to a Stanley Cup championship. With six seasons with the Ducks, Carlyle has been able to have the most wins and highest winning percentage in franchise history.

In the 2010-11 season, the Ducks were able to get 47 wins and only 30 loses, which led them to second place in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference and a spot in the playoffs. A fourth playoff seed sent the Ducks against the Nashville Predators, but the Ducks were shot down.

The home pond of the Ducks is the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. For a short while, the arena was actually called the Pond of Anaheim until Arrowhead bought the naming rights, then it became the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. It has a seating capacity of 17,174 people and was opened in 1993.

The Ducks have been able to get to the Stanley Cup championship two times. Their first appearance was in 2003, where they lost against the New Jersey Devils in Game Seven and then another appearance in 2007. In 2007, they went up against the Ottawa Senators and were able fly right past them to take home their first Stanley Cup.

Who knew a hockey team could be based off of a fictional movie created by Disney? Most people would think the team would be lousy, but the Ducks have been able to prove that they are a great team that will keep on flying past everyone.
