Formed in 1966, the Atlanta Falcons were in the National Football League until 1970, when they joined the NFL. The team has had its ups and downs, but has been able to get to the Super Bowl championship in 1998. The Falcons are in the South Division of the National Football Conference, where they play at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

The head coach of the Falcons is Mike Smith, who joined the team in 2008. This is the first team he has ever head coached, but has been able to make the most of it. In the 2010 season, the Falcons were able to acquire 13 wins and only three loses putting them at first in the South Division. Backed by their amazing record and the ability to keep up an eight game winning streak, the Falcons went up against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Playoffs, but were defeated.

  The home of the Falcons is the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Built in 1992, it was the largest domed structure until 1999, when the London's Millennium Dome was completed. The stadium has an artificial turf playing surface and a seating capacity of 71,228 people. Major renovations occurred in 2006 to the interior and exterior of the stadium from the repainting of walls to new suites being added.

Being the best team in the regular season does not mean you will win the Super Bowl. The Falcons learned this the hard way, but now they will know not to make the same mistake next season.
