Avicii is the newest EDM DJ to arrive on the scene and he gets to claim a first for the genre during this upcoming fall tour. For, on this brief trip visiting America (he is from Sweden) he will become the first of his kind to play the Radio City Music Hall in New York. This is a huge event. It means that if a person has Avicii tickets for the performance on September 27, 2012 may be attending the show that announces the mainstream acceptance of the genre.
The New York show sits in the middle of the tour schedule which begins on August 31, 2012 at the Marque Night Club in Las Vegas, Nevada and ends on September 30, 2012 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Most of the performances will be on college campuses. This gives students who have grown up with the EDM music movement a chance to have a crazy night before midterms.
Those college students may have been among the tens of thousands to arrive in Grant Park in Chicago to see Avicii play Lollapalooza, providing the music and arts festival with a constant dance groove between sets on the main stages.
As most of the DJs in the electronic dance music realm do most of their work in the studio, most of the news out of the Avicii PR camp is related to new remixes on which he is working. He just released the outrageous music video for Superlove, a collaborative effort with the aid of Lenny Kravitz’s vocals. His other major releases in 2012 include a couple of remixes of recent released from Madonna.
Not everything he does is a remix. He released the song “Silhouettes” without any aid of a major artists vocals and a previous producer’s work. The single had a respectable showing on the charts and has been scene on YouTube by over six million. This is the fifth single from his first EP, The Battery Pack. The songs “Fade into Darkness” and “Levels” have managed to become platinum hits in his native Sweden and “Levels” has become an international hit, reaching Top 10 status in a number of countries and earning some kind of album sales classification in nation’s throughout the Western world.
