The Baltimore Orioles have enjoyed a rich and loyal history of beloved fans and players for over fifty years. They debuted as a Major League baseball team in 1954. Unfortunately it was not a very good year. They finished with fifty four wins and one hundred losses. They were fifty seven games behind the division leader at that time too.

Amazingly however, the fans love affair with this team was taking root. They drew over one million fans to the sixty seven home games in their first season. This surpassed everyone's expectations. The Orioles are in the American League East Division and compete directly with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Toronto Blue Jays.

In three short years later, they finished the season at an even five hundred. This was a first time accomplishment. From 1954 to 1991 they played at Memorial Stadium. This venue could seat 54,000 people. Then in 1992, they opened Camden Yards. This is where they still play to this day. This ball park was designed like the older stadiums. The fans have great seats with good views of the field and players no matter where they sit.

Camden Yards can seat just over 48,000 people. It is conveniently located in close proximity to downtown Baltimore's Inner Harbor. They have had sixteen logo and uniform variations since 1954 and are affectionately referred to as The Birds. The primary uniform colors are black and orange. Their overall attendance has dropped significantly in recent years, but is still better than the average from ten years ago.

Through the years they have had six Cy Young award winners and six Most Valuable Player honors. They currently have eleven players and four managers that have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Famous players include Cal Ripken Junior, Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer and Eddie Murray.
