In 2014, the Panthers barely made the playoffs with a 7-8-1 final record. Their season was incredibly inconsistent, with a six game losing streak to be followed by four straight wins to make the post season. This season, Carolina is hoping to straighten out those ups and downs and push towards getting farther in the playoffs in 2015. Offensively, the loss of wideout Kelvin Benjamin for the season due to injury is a tough one for quarterback Cam Newton to take, but he will still have the services of consistent
tight end Greg Olsen and rookie receiver Devin Funchess to count on. In the backfield, Jonathan Stewart is running the ball well and should provide the help that this offense needs to be successful. With Newton under center, you never know what will happen as he makes plays with both his arm and his legs.
Carolina’s defense is stellar and ranks above any other unit in the NFC South. Led by middle linebacker Luke Kuechly, this defense has ranked in the top 10 in the NFL for the past three seasons. The addition of 2015 draft pick Shaq Thompson at outside linebacker and cornerback Charles Tillman during the offseason, along with the recent trade for Chicago Bear’s Jared Allen could propel this defense in to the top five in the league. The NFC South is a muddy division with each team having a legitimate shot at the top honors. Carolina has won the division outright for the past few seasons and with this current squad could end up there again barring any further major injuries. Fans should be sure to purchase their Carolina Panthers tickets to see this talented team in all the on-field action this season. Don’t miss a snap, throw or run in 2015!
