Though being one of the oldest teams, the Chicago Bears are still a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.   Formed in 1919, the Bears were originally called the Decatur Stanleys, after a food company in Illinois. They soon decided to upgrade their title to the Chicago Bears. This name change was fitting seeing as the Chicago baseball team is the “Cubs”, why not make the football team the Bears? The Bears are still on the hunt for their first Super Bowl Championship since 1985, as they compete in the North Division of the NFC.  They perform at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2004, the Bears hired Coach Lovie Smith to lead this historical team to success. During his time as coach, the Bears have captured three NFC North titles, and reached the Super Bowl. During the 2011 season, the Bears finished with an even 8-8 record, and finished third in the NFC North. After not making the playoffs, the Bears look to get back to their winning ways in the 2012-2013 seasons. There is no doubt that this team has the players to do just that. On the offensive end, lethal passer Quarterback Jay Cutler, and unstoppable Running Back Matt Forte will collect a large amount of yards for the Bears. On the defensive end, veteran Linebacker Brian Urlacher looks to lead his team against any offense in the league.  Let’s also not forget about their lethal special teams’ package in Devin Hester. Da Bears look to put themselves back on the map this year.

The current home of the legendary Bears is Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. This is an appropriate name for the venue, because the Bears look to make every game an all-out war. This stadium first opened in 1924, and has had some renovation done in 2002. After the reopening in 2003, this stadium seats approximately 61,500 fans. This venue brings fans from all over to the Windy city to see the historical Bears play.

Do the Bears have what it takes to reach their goal of another Super Bowl championship? This season might just hold the answer. The bears definitely have the hunger to reach it, but the way they play this year may define their fate. They have the elements of a dominant football team in their Offense and Defense. If the Bears play to their potential, the NFL better watch out.
