One of the two teams you will find located in the city of Chicago, the Chicago White Sox, often have people cheer on more than one team during the season. Though, overall in the town, there is a division between fans, one that will create great games each year they play.
Established back in 1900, it is one of the older teams located in the American League, central division. In this long history they have been housed in many different stadiums as well. Back when they first begun they would play in what is known as, South Side Park, until 1910. At that point, Comiskey Park was built and it would be their home for the now, it was changed in name only back in 1991, when it became US Cellular Field.
Before the 2005 year, and there ascent to the top, they had many bad seasons. Including the feeling that they would never again take the series, since their last title, came way back in 1917. It would be very frustrating to fans who would cheer at the beginning of the year, only to see their team do horrible.
As one of the eight charter franchises, that would begin the game of baseball into the world of fans, they have fans of all ages all over the world. One of the worst scandals in all of baseball took place on this team, back in 1919. The team was a strong one, most of the players remained through this year on the team, so they were expected to go far again. Making it all the way into the World Series, they then conspired to throw the game and series, the Black Sox Scandal would place a
bad feeling around the team for years to come.
Those players who were involved in this scandal, soon found themselves band from the game of baseball for the rest of their life. Imagine having to stop playing a game that you loved, and would have supported you, it would be very difficult, but the punishment does fit the crime.
Finally coming up in the season of 2005, the team would have a banner year. One that was filled with a sweep of the Houston Rockets in the series, placing them back on top once again, after so many years. It had been 88 years that the Chicago White Sox felt like they were cursed.
