Chris Isaak is perhaps best described as a singer able to go as high as Roy Orbison, a singer with as much swoon as Elvis Presley, and a songwriter with as much pain in his heart as Johnny Cash. He is an artist encapsulating the very best of the heyday of Sun Studio in Memphis, when Sam Phillips single-handedly made rockabilly a mainstream music choice. This is no accident, as he professes on the eve of the release of Chris Isaak tickets for his Beyond the Sun tour. The album for which the album serves the namesake is meant to pay homage to the records he grew up listening to and the ones that inspired him to become one of the biggest enigmas in modern music, an original Indie rocker who manages to create frenzy with every new project. In fact, Isaak recorded and produced the entire album at the Sun Studio, keeping his inspiration close.

Beyond the Sun, his 11^th studio project, released last year, but Isaak is finally out on the road following the passing of his father. This tour is taking him throughout the United States and Canada until December 13, 2012 when he ends the schedule with a performance at Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco, California. While the tour and the album is not getting much mainstream press, the indie rocker has returned to his roots and is cashing in on more than a quarter century as one America’s best received musicians. His arrival is causing a stir on the local level, with concert announcements grabbing a headline one month and his actual arrival grabbing another a month or two later.

Chris Isaak will be performing songs from his latest album, but he will also be reaching back for those hits that continue to make him a sex symbol, no matter how old he gets. He can still hit the highs and lows unlike anybody else and is perfectly willing to expose just how vulnerable he truly is. Combine these elements and a singer-songwriter emerges with the sincerity to win over the guys and the image to keep women intrigued, even as his discography hits double digits.
