After a surprisingly successful 2014 season which ended with a 12-4 record, the Dallas Cowboys are entering this season excited and encouraged. Quarterback Tony Romo managed to remain relatively healthy for the first time in three seasons and both the offensive and defensive coordinators will be back for the first time in four years which should provide some consistency heading into 2015. In 2014, Dallas took pressure off Romo by consistently running the ball with Demarco Murray. This approach should continue this season but will have to succeed without the NFL’s leading rusher in 2014 as Murray is now running the rock as a Philadelphia Eagle. It looks as though the Cowboys will roll with a backfield by committee with Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams competing for roster spots and on field carries. At age 33, tight end Jason Witten shows no signs of missing a step and should continue to be targeted in 2015 along with star wideout Dez Bryant.
The Cowboys’ offensive line is one of the elite in the NFL and was heightened this offseason by the selection of Chaz Green in the third round and owner Jerry Jones deciding to take a chance on La’el Collins, who went undrafted due to off the field issues.
On the defensive side of the ball, Dallas’ biggest offseason move was bringing in defensive end Greg Hardy. As a team in 2014, the Cowboys only had 28 sacks while Hardy had double digit numbers in both 2012 and 2013 but only played in one game last season due to a suspension for conduct detrimental to the league. To achieve more pressure on the league’s opposing quarterbacks, the Cowboys also drafted Randy Gregory in the second round. Jeremy Mincey, Tyrone Crawford and DeMarcus Lawrence all showed up big in 2014 and should continue to make strides to help this defense this season. The Cowboys emerged in 2014 after many mediocre 8-8 seasons and are looking to continue to trend upward in 2015. The NFC East is always a very difficult division, one that plays each other extremely well. Cowboys’ ticket holders are in for an exhilarating season as they look to repeat and shock the NFL again in 2015. Be sure to secure your Dallas Cowboys tickets and come out to watch this talented team perform every week.
