The Dallas Stars, originally known as the Minnesota North Stars, were formed in 1967 in Bloomington, Minnesota. It wasn't until 1993, when they became the Dallas Stars when the team relocated to Dallas. The Stars are in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, where they play at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The new head coach of the Stars is Glen Gulutzan, who has never coached in the NHL before. Although he doesn't have any experience in the NHL, he does have experience with the Stars' organization. He has been a great head coach for the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League for the past two years.

The 2010-11 season, for the Stars, was fantastic. They were able to get 42 wins and only 29 loses. Unfortunately, everyone else in the Pacific Division is also great and were able to get a spot in the playoffs, but the Stars were the outcasts of the group and did not get a playoff spot.

The American Airlines Center, which opened in 2001, replaced the original home of the Stars, Reunion Arena. The arena has a seating capacity of 18,532 people and by being built in the year 2000, it will include more modern features that are sure to please anyone that visits it.

The Stars have been able to reach the Stanley Cup championship four times and have won it once. They appeared in the 1981 and 1991 Stanley Cup championships as the Minnesota North Stars, but lost. The team finally won a championship as the Dallas Stars in 1999 and were back in 2000 for another crack at it. They were unable to pull off a repeat and lost to the New Jersey Devils.

The Dallas Stars are probably in the toughest division in the NHL, which keeps them on their toes at all times. At the start of the new season, they have to look past the tough teams they have to go through and concentrate on getting their second Stanley Cup championship.
