One of the older teams in the NBA is the Detroit Pistons, who were formed as the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1941. It wasn't until 1957, when the Pistons would move to their current home. The Pistons are in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference, where they play at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The new head coach of the Pistons, for the 2010-11 season, is still not officially known, but rumors point to Lawrence Frank as the new head coach. He was previously the head coach for the New Jersey Nets.

The 2010-11 season did not go so well for the Pistons. They were only able to capture 30 wins with 52 loses, which placed him at forth in the Central Division and 11th in the Eastern Conference.

The home of the Pistons is The Palace of Auburn Hills, but is often referred to as The Palace. It was opened in 1988 with a seating capacity of 21,454 people, until 1997 when it was increased to 22,076 people. The Palace boasts 180 luxury suites and 13 underground luxury suites. Although it is one of the oldest arenas in the NBA, it has many of the features that a newer arena would have today. It has been rumored that a new arena is scheduled to be built in the next four or five years that would house the Detroit Red Wings and Pistons.

The Pistons are no stranger to the NBA championships with seven appearances and three wins. Their first appearance was in 1955, but their first win wasn't until 1989. Their latest win was in 2004 with another appearance in 2005. Unfortunately, they were unable to make it a repeat win.

Detroit has been known to have great professional sports teams and the Pistons are no exception. Although they are not as well known as the Los Angeles Lakers or the Chicago Bulls, they are still known to their fans and that is all that matters.
