Taking a page from great rock bands of the past, Mike Eli and James Young decided to take their last names and begin a band. Thus Eli & Young, an acoustic duo, first started to play coffee shops and bars at the University of North Texas. The would expand and add electricity to become the Eli Young Band, a group whose song writing abilities would ensure their continued relevancy in a genre with veterans constantly fighting the surge of new talent. In 2012, this means Eli Young Band tickets are concert tickets to see a group on the road with the Rascal Flatts and Little Big Town on a tour sponsored by Farmers Insurance.
Yes, it may be a little odd to have the sponsor in the title, but these tours typically have a few making the trip a little easier. The fans are certainly happy to have things a little easier and it will be easy on the ears the Eli Young Band, Little Big Town, and the Rascal Flatts, three of the most notable pop country bands in recent memory. Eli, Young, and company will have a little more confidence over the course of the past few shows after being awarded the first of the new CMA Award medallions, which are replacing the plaques that have been given to bands for reaching number one status on the country airplay music charts.
They were awarded the medallion for the song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”, the second number one single from the second major label album, Life at Best. The first was “Crazy Girl”. Crazy Girl has gone platinum as a single and Even If it Breaks Your Heart seems destined for the same RIAA honor (they still hand out gold and platinum records).
Soon Eli Young Band tickets may end up being headlining tickets soon enough. To date, this group has been an opening act or a featuring player on another band’s tour. These four musicians – lead singer Mike Eli, lead guitarist James Young, bass guitarist Jon Jones, and drummer Chris Thompson – have been happy to support, and in turn receive support, from their many friends in the industry, but they would one day like to return the favor and help another country group make it big.
