The Florida Panthers proved the city of Miami could support a winning hockey team last season and this season NHL fans will be intrigued to see if the BB&T Center will once again be privy to the Stanley Cup playoffs. This is a young team and an exciting one to watch for those with Florida Panthers tickets.

Center Stephen Weiss and wings Tomas Fleishmann and Kris Versteeg are entering their primes on the first line of the forward line. Weiss has struggled with a groin injury but once he returns he will resume his previous penchant for dishing the puck. Fleischmann had two clear halves, but fans will hope the 28-year-old wing makes this shortened season much like the first half of the last. Then the Panthers enjoyed an incredibly prolific experience. Florida pairs him with Versteeg. Versteeg is undersized and an unlikely right wing and he is dealing with his own groin injury. When he is on the ice he is a speed demon with a knack for respectable point totals.

The loss of Jason Garrison is going to hurt in the short term, but the Florida Panthers were thinking long term when they let him walk. He was far too expensive and the front office is ready to go with Brian Campbell matched with Mike Weaver on the first line of the defensemen, Filip Kuba and Dmitry Kulikov on the second line, and Erik Gudranson and Ed Jovanovski. Campbell is no longer the sniper he once was, but he is still a quality two-way player who can move the puck from the blue line to blue line with ease.

The new 2013 Florida Panthers are going to have a tough season, but it is not out of the realm of possibility that the hockey team will once again reign supreme in the Southeastern Division and make a second straight appearance in the postseason.
