Alternative Presence of Foo Fighters The Band

Foo Fighters the band has been part of the alternative rock presence since 1994. Their music has gone through growth and transformation while staying true to the core concepts of their musical messages. Started by the ex-drummer of Nirvana, Dave Grohl released the initial album less than a year after the formation of the new group.

The actual make up for the new basic entourage underwent numerous changes between recordings, releases, and even tours. Bringing together a cohesive group seemed to present a huge challenge for Grohl. With constant changes in the membership, Grohl had to take on roles such as re-recording the drum section on the 1997 release of "The Colour and the Shape".

Under normal contexts, all of these changes and demands on a musical group would lead to the dissolving of the group. Yet with numerous talents and the ability to step in where needed, the vision that Grohl held for his music and the performers resulted in opposite effect. They began to thrive.

With six Grammy nominations and three Grammy Awards for the category of Best Album, the core and present performers finally came together as one and released the seventh album in 2011, "Wasting Light".

The initial venture was started under controversial circumstances after the death of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. Many felt Cobain's suicide gave Grohl the stepping stone he needed to create his own band. While the initial sound of the music was very similar to Nirvana's, the release of the second album in 1997, "The Colour and the Shape" proved that similar did not mean the same. Many accusations of using the death of Cobain stopped when Grohl was able to prove his own musical skill and voice.

A little more controversy was added to the resume when Foo Fighters the band supported the highly controversial movement that disputed the connection between HIV and AIDS. Causes such as Alive and Well became this group's focal point for activism which denied the link, rejected the medications, and disputed the validity of HIV tests. While the musical contribution to the documentary "The Other Side of Aids" was significant, it has been noted that these causes are not continued to be listed as one of those that the current group supports on their website.
