Born in Pearsall, Texas during 1952, George Strait has become known as the King of Country Music. This living legend is well-known for his unique blending of traditional country, honky-tonk, bar-room ballads, and western swing music. As of 2011, he has had 58 singles reach the Number One position on the music charts. This makes him the world record holder, exceeding all other artists in all other genres throughout history. The previous record had been set at 40 by Conway Twitty.

He plays the guitar and piano, and has been active in the music industry since 1975. His first break was in 1981 when his song, "Unwound, " topped the music charts. Since then, he has received numerous awards and achieved wide-spread recognition.

Among his accolades are the Artist of the Decade award from the Country Music Academy (CMA), induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and several Grammy Awards. In addition, he has received numerous Entertainer and Album of the Year Awards from the CMA and the Academy of Country Music (ACM). The Texas State University at San Marcos has granted him an honorary Doctoral Degree in Humane Letters.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), this performer has sold well over 68 million albums to his fans in the United States. Among those, 13 became multi-platinum (sales of at least two million copies), 33 platinum (one million copies), and 38 gold (500K copies). His most successful album, "Strait Out of the Box, " was released in 1995. It featured a four-CD box set, and ultimately had sales that exceeded the multi-platinum status eight times.

George Strait continues to maintain an active touring schedule. This popular performer has upcoming shows at venues across the United States. Among them are the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. He will also be touring through Lafayette, Louisiana; Phoenix, Arizona; Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Tulsa, Oklahoma; St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri; Wichita, Kansas; and Des Moines Iowa.
