Matt Pike’s heavy metal band, High On Fire, has had a string of hit releases since their creation by the former guitar player for the stoner doom band Sleep. Their first full length album, “The Are of Self Defense” was released three different times, once by 12 Records, later released on Man’s Ruin Records and then again by Tee Pee Records with two bonus tracks. Their sophomore release was, “Surrounded by Thieves” which released to an overwhelming positive response. 2005’s release of Blessed Black Wings was a smash hit and was named one of the top 50 albums of the 21 Century by prominent UK music weekly Kerrang. In 2007 Matt Pike was named one of rocks “New Guitar Gods” by Rolling Stone magazine and the band is currently working on their newest album, Luminiferous which will be their seventh studio album and it marks the next devastating chapter in High On Fire’s gloriously unhinged metal saga. Currently considered one of the most influential heavy metal bands touring and recording today, High On Fire has headlined many of their own tours, they were the opening act for the legendary heavy metal band Metallica for eight European shows. They were part of the collaboration for the soundtrack for Namco Bandai Games’ 2010 remake of Splatterhouse. This band continuously puts out high energy dynamic earth-splitting albums each seem more unstoppable than the last. Their live shows are becoming the template for future heavy metal bands, always looking toward a future where the end is always near.
