Jermaine Lamarr Cole, also known as the Therapist, was born in January 28th 1985 to an African-American father who served as a soldier in the US Army and a white mother. His father would later leave the family and Cole grew up with his mother, his aunt and a cousin in North Carolina. He started off music at a tender age of 12, getting deeper at 15 when he joined up Bomm Sheltuh, a local rap group and that is when Cole adopted his stage name Therapist.
Cole’s environment as he grew up was multi-ethnic and he went to high school at Terry Sanford where he also studied the guitar. Upon completing high school, he opted to go to New York on an academic scholarship at St John’s University, majoring in communication and also studying business.
Cole has grown fast to earn recognition as one of the most acclaimed top notch Hip-hop artist. He was signed up by Jay Z’s recording label Roc Nation in 2009.he has so far released to albums in which he features other great artists, and the albums went on to top the charts upon release. The first was titled Coleworld: The Sideline Story in August 2011.he later released his second album titled Born Sinner in June 2013, which sold approximately 297000 copies in the States alone in the first week.
Cole has gained accolade on all fronts winning numerous awards under American music Awards, BET Awards, Grammy Awards, Soul train Awards and many others. J.Cole is also one of the best performers with his shows and concerts witnessing electrifying performances, leaving his fans satiated and longing for more. His popularity is also evidenced by his huge following on social media, with his followers on twitter clocking 2 million by February 2012.
J.Cole’s involvement in charitable work has also propelled him to a highly ranked star, where he organizes concerts back in his native home in North Carolina in order to motivate young people to rise and achieve big things in life.
