Joan Jett is a visionary and innovator in the music scene. As the leader of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the band has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles including favorites “Bad Reputation”, “I Love Rock and Roll”, and “Crimson and Clover”. Their single “I Hate Myself for Loving You” made its way into mainstream culture as the theme song for Monday Night Football sung by Faith Hill.
Joan Jett has been a rock musician since 1975. She began playing the guitar at just 14 years old and was a founding member of the all female rock band “The Runaways” which formed in the mid-70’s but disbanded in 1979. Jett went solo for a few years and eventually started Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in the early 1980’s. The band was originally nominated as an inductee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 and 2012 but sadly, was passed over. In December 2014, it was announced that the band would finally be inducted to the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame for the 2015 class. The Blackhearts have released 10 studio albums including a compilation entitled Greatest Hits in 2010, with all the crowd favorites. Their latest album Unvarnished was released in 2013.
