Justin Bieber is a star who may have never been discovered if not for the advent of YouTube. In fact, if not for the video sharing technology and the social media revolution he may have never become the star and tabloid subject he is today. It is almost certain that he would not have been able to make Justin Bieber tickets the most popular concert tickets in the world at such a young age without these developments.

He was born on March 1, 1994 in London, Ontario, Canada and grew up in a religious, low-income, and single-mother household. Bieber seemed to like music and he would recreate the dance moves and songs he enjoyed, which fell along the lines of R&B and pop. His mother, Mallette, had big dreams for him and often recorded him during these performances and put the videos up on YouTube.

There, while searching for another performer, former record exec Scooter Braun found Bieber’s videos. Braun, quite impressed, began his efforts to sign the young talent. After Justin Bieber’s mother overcame her initial hesitation, Justin flew down to Atlanta and was presented before a number of labels, ultimately signing with Usher in a newly formed joint effort with Braun.

His ascent to stardom seemed to be mercurial. He released My World as an EP and it quickly landed in the Top 5 on a variety of music charts throughout the world. Ultimately the success of the EP and the singles “One Time” and “One Less Lonely Girl” landed him back in the recording studio to turn to the EP into a full length album.

My World 2.0 released in March 2010, four month after the release of the EP. It topped charts and went multi-platinum thanks to the previous singles and the new songs like “Baby” and “Eenie Meenie”. The album also launched the young performer’s first tour, an international headlining gig known as the My World Tour. Pandemonium followed and tabloids grew to love to make light of the suddenly immensely popular, brash flirt.

Next, Justin Bieber found his first major celebrity relationship with Nick star Selena Gomez. It was rocky but always newsworthy and kept the media enthralled with the singer in time for him to record and release Believe, the multi-platinum follow-up album that has gone multiplatinum and flooded the airwaves with requests for the songs “Boyfriend”, “As Long as You Love Me”, and “Beauty and a Beat”. Naturally, a massive tour followed. It appears that the next step for the Bieb is cultivated a more adult image and moving from pure pop to a more R&B feel. Time will tell if he is able to do so.
