Keith Urban is a country heartthrob who is particularly skilled at moving effortlessly from a Southern rock meant to kick off a rowdy party and a song pulling at those emotional chords. He is pretty proficient doing this on the radio and in music videos, but he thrives in concert, where Keith Urban tickets put him in touch with his millions of adoring fans.
Those fans have been waiting for the announcement of a new album, or at least a new tour. They enjoy watching him on the Voice and performing at the Grammy Awards, but they would prefer to hear his voice either singing something new or at least singing in the same room (albeit a room also known as an arena). Urban recently announced his summer 2013 North American Tour. This tour will take him through two dozen cities in a little less than three months. It will feature the support of veteran country harmonizers and partiers Little Big Town and new arrival Dustin Lynch.
The focus will be on the Australian born and raised Southern rocker. His collection of hits dwarfs many other domestic country bands. In fact, to hear him sing, it would be impossible to tell he comes from Down Under. There he caught the music bug early, learning to play the guitar at the young age of six and making the rounds in Australia’s rather limited, though dedicated base. Eventually he would have to Nashville and he would have to do his time performing as a session musician.
When he did receive his chance, he did his best to capitalize on the support Capitol Nashville gave him. He finally made good on the promise he showed on his second album. The self-titled record had his first number one hit, “But for the Grace of God”. His first certified single came on the follow-up album, Golden Road. “Somebody Like You” marked the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between Urban singles and the RIAA. These tracks are the songs his fans sing along with in concert. They feel his pain when he sings “Making Memories of Us” and are ready to be his wild girl when sings about the “Long Hot Summer”.
