His humor is universal and his delivery is frenetic. He is a ball of energy, unable to be contained and full of stories beyond the mere description of amusing. He is Kevin Hart and he is the next great comedian. MTV has recognized this and is tapping him to host the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. After this September show at the Staples Center, he will return to the road cracking jokes at his own expense and a few others close to him, whether they like it or not.
He is asking others to “Laugh at My Pain” when they look for Kevin Hart tickets. The comedy special released last season and only built upon the success he had with Seriously Funny from a year before. Both of these comedy albums resulted in two comedy DVDs that introduced him to a world just ready to start watching stand-up comedy again.
In addition to the tour and the hosting gig (the promo videos are freaking hilarious), Hart has been busy in Hollywood as an actor, gaining recognition for his roles in the new generation of camp in movies like Epic Movie and Superhero Movie. He has already finished his work on School Dance and the End of the World and is going to be returning to shoot scene for a handful of movies that will include the Impossible Dream and Scary Movie 5.
This incredibly busy and hardworking comedian will likely have another special ready in 2013, and will have a number of performance dates to promote the album and shoot the television special. Kevin Hart will likely incorporate a new perspective in his act, but he will maintain his story teller style. Expect new tales of false modesty and interactions with the Hollywood elite.
In the meantime, his 2012 shows will embellish stories of almost getaways, of terrifyingly out of touch family members, of stepping up to his wife before quickly backing down, and of adventures with his son. Kevin Hart tickets are a must for anyone interesting in comedy and its future.
