Lady Antebellum TicketsGetting To Know Country Group Lady Antebellum
Lady Antebellum is a country pop trio that burst onto the music scene in 2008 and earned the Top New Group and New Artist of the Year awards presented by the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association, respectively. They received their first two Grammy Award nominations in 2009 and won their first in 2009 for the Best Country Performance by a Group with Vocals.
The group consists of lead vocalists Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley with Dave Haywood playing piano, mandolin and guitar. Scott and Kelley had ties to the music industry before a chance meeting at a music club in Nashville. Scott's mom is Linda Davis, a singer and Kelley's brother is country singer and songwriter Josh Kelley. Haywood was working in construction in North Carolina before moving to Nashville to write music with Kelley who was an old middle-school classmate.
The group appeared on American Idol twice. The first time was in April 2010 and the second time was for a result show in May 2011. It was vindication of sorts for Scott, who failed to get past the first round in two separate auditions for the show.
Capitol Nashville released the trio's first single in 2007 and it rose all the way to number three on the country music charts. The following April the group released their debut album produced by Paul Worley and Victoria Shaw. The album's rich harmonies appealed to top 40 fans as well as the country crowd and the single "I Run to You" achieved crossover success for the musicians on the pop charts.
Their self-titled debut album went platinum while the single "Need You Now", from the 2010 album of the same name, went to number one on the country charts and peaked at number two on Billboard's Hot 100. Lady Antebellum released a third album in 2011 titled "Own the Night".
