The brand new barely known American gospel and soul singer Leon Bridges became a sensation for his best known song, “Coming Home”. Also the title of his debut album and just recently released on Columbia Records “Coming Home” received regular airplay and was a Top 10 Most Viral Track on Spotify. Bridges sound is from a lost era his soulful lyrics are smooth and fluid relaxing the listener as you can’t help but sit back and enjoy the already classic sound of this young emerging artist. His ‘50/’60-style sound has been described by Austin 360 as “a transmission straight from the heart”. Attributing his break in to the music industry to a run-in at a bar with White Denim guitarist Austin Jenkins who along with band mate Joshua Block came to see Bridges a few weeks after their initial meeting and the duo loved his hit single “Coming Home”. Working with Jenkins and Block as Producers on his first few tracks and using local musicians to play along with Bridges including The Orbans, Quaker City Night Hawks, and Patriot, they were recording on vintage equipment, and using an artist with an authentic old sound. It was from these first two demos that “Coming Home” received regular airplay on radio station ranging from KKXT to London. After breaking into mainstream his song “Lisa Sawyer” about his mother’s baptism in a river received more than 800,000 views and attracted the attention of more than 40 record labels. Leon Bridges performs in vintage clothing seeing a live performance by him is like stepping back in time to an Otis Redding or Sam Cooke show.
