LA Dodgers Tickets

Based in Los Angeles (LA) California as the name suggests, the Los Angeles Dodgers are a professional baseball team founded in 1883. Officially becoming "the Dodgers" in 1932, the team originated and was based in Brooklyn New York before moving to LA in 1958. While in LA, they played their first set of games at the LA Memorial Coliseum. They later moved to the Dodger Stadium, their now permanent home.

After a series of missteps and lost championships, in 1955 while still in New York, the team won the World Series for the first time. They defeated the Yankees. This was a first time accomplishment for them after being repeatedly defeated by the Yankees.

After moving to LA, the team won their first World Series title in their new hometown, and second overall in 1958. They defeated the Chicago White Sox and went on to win four (4) additional titles. They secured these titles in the years 1963, 1965, 1981 and 1988.

The San Francisco Giants is an old and fierce rival. The Giants, like their rivals were first based in New York where the Giants dominated winning a total of five (5) World Series Title to their rivals one (1). After moving to California, the opposite became true with LA winning a total of (5) titles to the Giants' one (1). Both teams now share the same successes statistically and this further adds to their fierce rivalry.

Some noted players including the legendary Jackie Robinson have played for this team. Robinson who played during the Brooklyn years was the first African-American in the league and consequentially the first African-American to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Robinson's genius led to six (6) pennants between 1947-1956.

Joe Black, Roy Campanella, Cy Young and Don Newcombe also contributed to the successful run during 1947-1956. April 2011, the Los Angeles Dodgers appointed a new representative to manage the daily operations and stave off financial woes. In spite of best efforts however, the team filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on June 27, 2011.
