Formed in 2000, the Minnesota Wild are a relatively young team and have been Minnesota's new hockey team, since 1993 when the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas. The Wild are in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference, where they play at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Coaching a relatively young team is Mike Yeo, who is the NHL's youngest coach. Yeo was signed on with the Wild in 2011 and is the team's third head coach. This is his second head coaching job. Before, he was head coach of the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League and an assistant coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In the 2010-11 season, the Wild were able to get 39 wins and 35 loses. For such a young team, this is not a bad record. They were able to get third in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference and were not able to make it to the playoffs.

The home of the Wild is the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was opened in 2000 and has the capacity to hold 18,064 people. In 2004, it was named the best overall sports arena in the United States by ESPN. A unique feature, in the arena, is that there is a crows nest in all four corners and inside the nests are surprising things. In the first corner, there is a zamboni with an organ in it that plays throughout the game, the second corner has a lighthouse with a fog horn that is the buzzer for Wild's goals, the third corner announces, "Let's play hockey," before each game, and the last corner holds the audio equipment for live games, that one isn't as exciting.

The Minnesota Wild have never been to a Stanley Cup in their 9 seasons playing, but they should not give up hope. They are still a young team that needs to gain experience, which will come in time to give them a shot at the Stanley Cup.
