To be one of the original six teams, in the NHL, is one thing, but to be the oldest team in the NHL is a great honor. The New York Rangers were formed in 1926 and have played through the ages. They play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York City, New York.

The head coach of the Rangers from 2008-present is John Tortorella, who was originally head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning. In 2009, he became the American born coach with the most wins in the NHL. He is also an assistant head coach for the United States' National Men's hockey team.

The Rangers' were able to get 44 wins in the 2010-11 season and only 33 loses, which caused them to clinch a playoff spot. In the playoffs, they faced the Washington Capitals, who beat them in game five.

The home of the Rangers is Madison Square Garden, which was opened, at its current location, in 1968. It is the oldest arena in the NHL and can hold 18,200 people. The seats are placed horizontally from the floor and has a more gradual incline than other North American Arenas. This causes the view from seats to be more level with the floor.

The Rangers have been in the Stanley Cup 10 times and have won four, with their most recent win being in 1994. They also have the ability to boast that in 1928, they were the first NHL team to win a Stanley Cup.

The New York Rangers have been able to be the oldest team in the NHL, be the first NHL team to win a Stanley Cup, go on to win three more Stanley Cups, and are able to play at the oldest NHL arena. One would think that they would get tired of getting accomplishments, but no, the Rangers have been going head strong for so long and they are not going to stop now, which makes them a perfect team to watch.
