Phillip Phillips

Phillip Phillips TicketsPhillip Phillips is back in 2013. He has been building up to this tour with John Mayer for the last few months. He began by performing “Gone, Gone, Gone” for the 12th season finale of American Idol. He is now set to add Phillip Phillips tickets for a world tour to his career accolades. Ok, so they are actually John Mayer’s concert tickets. But, the young performer is taking advantage of the opportunity, one which takes him on the Born and Raised World Tour.

Phillips is continuing to promote his debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon. The album is nearing platinum status and this last tour should take him over that threshold. It also gives him the chance to play one of the world’s most noteworthy music festivals, the Rock in Rio.

Few artists can claim they have endured as much physical pain in their pursuit of achieving their dream as Phillips Phillips. The acoustic guitar playing singer-songwriter spent seemingly as much time in the hospital thanks to impassable kidney stones as on the stage and in the studio preparing for each week of competition for season eleven of American Idol. These issues continued to linger and even affected his first attempt at releasing Phillips Phillips tickets for the masses.

This certainly helped the young man from Leesburg, Georgia win over voters to reach the finals without ever having feared being eliminated. Of course, his skill had something to do with that as well. Phillips had picked up the guitar at the age of 14 and spent the next eight years preparing for this moment. He had cultivated a sound reminiscent of Dave Matthews and, at times, Mumford and Son. This was particularly apparent during his coronation song, “Home”.

American Idol is not known for the being the musically in touch with the indie rock scene, but this song seemed to reach across the genres of pop and indie rock and easily became the most successful coronation song ever released by an American Idol winner, selling more than 4 million copies. Eventually, after going on the American Idols Live Tour, Phillips put in time in the recording studio.

This was brief, as next he was on stage playing with Matchbox Twenty and started a smaller headlining tour of colleges across the country. Still, he released the World from the Side of the Moon within a year of winning American Idol and has enjoyed noteworthy success with the new album. The album has gone gold and reached number four on the Billboard 200.

Critics have been kind to the debut Phillip Phillips album, though they continue to draw comparisons to the young singer-songwriter and the more established Dave Matthews. The album has performed well on its own merits though and this seems to set the stage for a very bright future for this American Idol alumni.
