Founded in 1933, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the fifth oldest team in the NFL. They also have the most Super Bowl championships in the NFL with six wins out of their eight appearances, with their most recent win in 2008. The Steelers are in the North Division of the American Football Conference, where they play at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The leader of the well known Steelers is Mike Tomlin, who joined the team in 2007. In his second season with the Steelers, he was able to lead them to a Super Bowl championship, which makes him the youngest coach in NFL history to coach in and win a Super Bowl. In the 2010 season, the Steelers ended with 12 wins and four loses that propelled them into the playoffs, past the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets, to another Super Bowl appearance. Sadly, their joy was short lived when Green Bay beat them 31 to 25.
The home of the Steelers is Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which was opened in 2001 with a seating capacity of 65,050 people. It is one of the few stadiums that still has a grass playing surface in an age of artificial turf.
The Steelers are a very well known team across America because they have always had the reputation of playing phenomenally.
