The band, Rascal Flatts, consist of Jay DeMarcus, who was born on April 26 of 1971, Gary LeVox, who was born on July 10 of 1970 and Joe Don Rooney who was born on September 13 of 1975. Their style of music is contemporary country. Surely, if you are into this style of music, you have heard of this band before as they are very popular. Their quote by Jay DeMarcus is: "Our goal now is to be better than we were yesterday." It seems that this band really is living up to their quote as their talent seems to be growing. All of the members are accomplished songwriters as each one of them have written at least a couple of hits. However, they don't just record their own music. Take "Bless the Broken Road" as an example. This song was written by Marcus Hummon and Jeff Hannah. Some hits they have written include "Fast Cars and Freedom" and "I Melt".

They all have different musical influences in their life. For Joe Don, he was influenced by Vince Gill, Eric Clapton and Chet Atkins. For Jay, his musical influences were Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and George Jones. Gary's musical influences included George Jones, Keith Whitley, Alabama, Henadoah and Stevie Wonder.

Jay eventually left East to West and started playing with Chely Wright's band. This is when he met Joe Don Ronney. Jay and Gary were playing in a Nashville club when their guitarist was not able to make it. Gary asked Joe Don if he could sit in and that is when it all started.

The trio not only rocked the club that night, but today, they continue to rock our world. During the year 2000, they released their first album. Their single "Prayin' for Daylight", eventually ranked in at number three.
