Before they were the Sacramento Kings, the franchise has had to relocate to several other cities. The reason for the relocations does not lie in their lack of success in playing basketball, but in finding a city that is profitable enough to make them stay there. They have previously been the Rochester Royals, the Cincinnati Royals, the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, and the Kansas City Kings. Now it seems like they have found a place to stay and have been the Sacramento Kings since 1985. The Kings are in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, where they play at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California.

The leader of the Kings is Paul Westphal, who has had the pleasure of head coaching the Kings for two seasons, starting in 2009. Before he was coaching the Kings, he was the head coach of the Phoenix Suns in 1992 and the Seattle SuperSonics in 1998.

The 2010-11 season was not pleasant for the Kings. They were only able to acquire 24 wins and 58 loses. This unfortunate record placed them at last in the Pacific Division and second to last in the Western Conference.

The home to the Kings is The Power Balance Pavilion, which only took 40 million dollars to build, the lowest construction cost for a NBA venue. It was opened in 1988 and only has a seating capacity of 17,317 people, which is the smallest seating capacity in the smallest sized arena in the NBA.

Even though the Kings' record, this last season, did not reflect them as being a great NBA team, their ability to make it to a championship will. As the Rochester Royals, the Kings were able to make it to the second NBA championship in 1951. They battled against the New York Knicks till Game Seven, where they won their first and only NBA championship.

Every team will have its glory days and every team will be in a slump, but the difference is how long a team is in a slump and if they have the will to pull themselves out. Hopefully, the Kings will pull themselves out to give their fans faith in their team.
