The alternative country crooning singer-songwriter, Sturgill Simpson was born in Jackson, Kentucky. Only actively releasing albums since 2013 he has already released two albums independently. His self-funded and self-released debut album “High Top Mountain” was produced by Dave Cobb and featured musicians Hargus “Pig” Robbins and Robby Turner, who’s a former guitarist for Waylon Jennings. Eric Ernst of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel compared it to Jennings, saying it had “rich vintage sounds heartbreaking ballads and juke-joint ramblers”.
