Sublime with Rome is an alternative reggae rock and hip hop musical collaboration between Eric Wilson formerly of the band Sublime, and singer/guitarist Rome Ramirez and Josh Freese. Original line-up included Bud Gaugh with whom they released their first album, “Yours Truly” in the summer of 2011, Gaugh left that winter to spend more time with his family. He was replaced by Josh Freese who is still among the current line-up for Sublime and Rome. Their sophomore album “Sirens” hit #34 on the US chart with singles “Wherever you Go” and “Sirens (Feat. The Dirty Heads)” leading up to the release. The band has been actively touring across North America and Europe since their inception, usually only stopping long enough to head back to the studio and make some new music. Originally Wilson and Gaugh both of the band Sublime were devastated by the loss of frontman Brad Nowell and re-united later trying to use the Sublime name and were prohibited by Brad’s family. Fans have been overjoyed at the opportunity to hear songs live again from one of their favorite bands from the 90s as Sublime with Rome performs brand new songs as well as songs from their days as Sublime. Rome sounds a lot like former frontman Nowell, yet manages to display a distinct voice and sound of his own that definitely bodes well for the future of Sublime with Rome. This band’s soulful, poppy sound is so different yet so easy to understand the fusion of rap, reggae, and punk rock with a candy coating on top that just makes sense.
