The team Tampa Bay rays has not been along for very long in the major league baseball association. In fact it was only back in 2007, when the franchise would be approved, and Tampa would have its own sports team to route for each year.

Playing in a brand new field that was special built to house the team, Tropicana field is the only place they have ever known as their field. But with such a short time of being around, it is surprising how fast this team has developed. Back in 2008 they even made it into the pennant race, but overall there are only four bad seasons that fans have had to deal with.

Many claim that the change is due to the decision in 2007, to change the name of the club. Many people thought that the old name, devil rays, was inappropriate, so it was changed to just the rays. That was the year before they finished and entered into the pennant race, and even into the World Series, though they would lose to Philadelphia in 5 games.

For such a young team they already have made quite a name for themselves. Maybe it's great planning by the scouts, or perhaps it's the extra enthusiasm that the team enjoys from its many fans. Whatever it is though, this team is one that is here to stay around.

If you have ever lived in Tampa, before the Rays came around, you will know just how many people used to complain about not having a professional baseball team in the area. Now that they have the team, they feel that the choices for all the "important" games are available to see, and cheer on a true home team. The Tampa Bay rays experience a lot of publicity in the area, and the stars are often admired by many people living in Florida. Giving many people the joy of being able to cheer on their local team in many popular sports.
