Taylor Swift is on her fourth studio album and her third ridiculous tour. This newest concert series, the Red Tour, is going to take her through the United States and Canada from March 13 to September 21, 2013. So far these Taylor Swift tickets are keeping these shows rather local, but given the genre-crossing nature of this newest album and the fact her last album spurred a true worldwide effort.

The album, Red, has been a long-time coming. She is already familiar with the adult contemporary radio format, the kids’ radio, and the pop radio, so it should come as no surprise that Taylor would openly toy with rock, dance, and dubstep. Swift is far from channeling Skrillex, but Red goes quite broad in this effort. Though she still touches on the follies of juvenile relationships gone awry, as they are want to do, the album’s narrative seems to rest on the story of a small town girl arriving in the big city, not quite sure of where she belongs or what to do. This includes heading into cafes and crashing yacht parties.

Red could have very easily been a disaster with her fans’ devotion being the only force keeping it from falling to un-certified levels. Of course, it does not. The jab at innocence, and moreover, the supposed story of her rise to fame, is one a nuanced songwriter of her skill is able to deliver. From “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” to “Begin Again”, the album is going to join the ranks of her other three, with plenty of platinum singles.

The Red Tour is going to feature Ed Sheeran, an English folk singer looking to make an impression in the United States. European, Oceania, and Asia dates are sure to follow, taking the pop country star across the world to close the night with a “Love Story” or “You Belong to Me” to end the night with on a positive note with a song a little more familiar.
