Rock is a music genre that is very popular all around the world. There are very many bands which produce such music. A good example is The Black Keys.
Just like any other rock band, there is an interesting history to it. Though, it is not as old as some of the prominent bands. It was formed in the year 2001 in a place called Arkon in Ohio. It consists of a duo, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney.
Both artistes specialize in different fields. Dan Auerbach plays the guitar and does the vocals, while Patrick Carney plays the drums. They started the group after dropping out of college. It was an independent act, which saw the revival of the once popular garage rock artists.
Up until 2011, this group has been managed to sell over 2 million albums in the US alone. These are huge sales and reflect how popular the band is locally. If the international sales are added, it would be way above the figure just sated.
Their first album is known as The Big Come Up. It was released in 2002 and was recorded in the basement below the house of Carnie. This is where they came up with their blues rock sound. Since then, the band has grown an underground fan-base by touring small clubs, more album releases and widespread licensing of their singles.
It is until 2006 that the band signed with a renowned record label, Nonesuch Records, and started to get bookings for huge rock festivals. Another album the duo released after that is called Attack & Release. It was released in 2008 and produced by Danger mouse.
They The Black Keys got their commercial breakthrough in the year 2010. This came after they released the album Brothers. One popular single in the album, known as Tighten UP, even went ahead to clinch three Grammies. Then in 2011 they released El Camino which got strong reviews and was number two in the billboard charts. This later on led to their first concert tour.
