The Moody Blues

Moody Blues Concert Tickets

The Moody Blues pioneered the fusion of rock and orchestral music. Their unique combination of progressive and psychedelic rock caught the attention of Decca Records shortly after they formed in 1964 from the remnants of the groups Krew Cats and El Riot and the Rebels. The Moody Blues popularity really took off after they began to incorporate the electronic keyboard and flute into their sound. Originally, the band consisted of Denny Laine on guitar, Clint Warwick on bass, Mike Pinder on keyboard, Ray Thomas with the flute/percussion and Graeme Edge on the drums.

After experiencing professional disputes with several record labels, they decided to create their own in 1969 and were one of the first bands to actually achieve success doing so. In the mid-70’s much to the public’s dismay, the group announced they were breaking up but eventually resumed recording and touring in 1977.

21 Moody Blues albums since 1965 have sold an estimated 55-million worldwide with their first concept album, Days of Future Passed, still one of the most successful and influential on the course of progressive rock. With the exception of that brief hiatus in the 70’s, the group has recorded and toured almost continuously since it was formed.

Today, founding member Graeme Edge along with John Lodge and Justin Hayward continue to tour and bring their original unique sound to not only their loyal fans but a whole new generation.
