The legendary Australian virtuoso guitarist, songwriter and occasional singer whose complex fingerstyle technique and high energy shows that feature the use of percussive effect on the guitar. Originally only performing as a session player, Emmanuel has carved out his own style as a solo artist during his career. Named 2008 and 2010s “Best Acoustic Guitarist” in issues of Guitar Player Magazine’s readers’ poll and has released 26 studio albums with his most current being his 2013s “Live And Solo in Pensacola, Florida”, Emmanuel released the DVD “Live At Her Majesty’s Theatre, Ballarat Australia” on July 11th 2006 and he has produced several very well done instructional videos: Guitar Talk (1993), Up Close (1996), Emmanuel Labor (2008), Certified Gems (2012), “Fingerstyle Milestones” (2014). His finger-style technique sometimes incorrectly referred to as Travis picking is a style that is commonly played on steel string acoustic guitars the pattern is the use of “preset right-hand patterns while fingerpicking with the left hand fingering standard chords. Emmanuel incorporates a multitude of playing styles including jazz, blues, bluegrass, folk and rock but the fingerpicking is at the core of his technique and playing style. Having no formal training Emmanuel does not read or write music his is a natural musical ability and an intrinsic sense of rhythm that has earned him fans from all over the world and as a solo performer he never plays to a set list and he uses a minimum of effects while on stage.
