He is a great American icon, a legendary musical outlaw constantly at odds with the law, and man of the people. The icon, outlaw, and populist is Willie Nelson and he is still touring, nearly entering his eight decade on this Earth. Willie Nelson tickets remain for a more than just a handful of concert dates in 2012, as it always seems he is busy during the fall when most country musicians have called it quits and have gone back to Nashville to prepare for the upcoming cold.
Part of that schedule is Farm Aid 2012. This time Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young head to Hersey, Pennsylvania for the 27th anniversary of the music festival. Nelson has stated his regret not at having to perform at this event, but that the event is necessary. Thus, he is proud to have co-founded the concert series with Mellencamp and Young, but wishes one day it will not be necessary.
Most years this concert and a drug arrest would be the most news about Willie. In 2012, he has released a new album, Heroes. He has also received an Oscar nomination for original music written and performed for the movie Lawless. The album, released through Legacy Recordings (a division of Sony Records) reached number four on the Billboard Country Album chart while drawing positive reviews from the critics. Somehow Willie Nelson and his sons Luke and Micah have written a few new songs and combined them with covers of pop songs and old country ballads. Artists like Kris Kristofferson, Snoop Dogg, and Sheryl Crow have even lent a vocal or two.
Willie Nelson’s 2012 live performances actually began at Farm Aid on January 5th in Tracy, California and they will run through November 15, 2012 at the ACL Live festival. He has been touring nonstop this year, which is really quite incredible. It may help that he has been able to take his two sons on the road with him, making Willie Nelson tickets a family party worth seeing.
