Winnipeg Jets Hockey Tickets

The newest team in the NHL is the Winnipeg Jets. Originally the Atlanta Thrashers, True North Sports Entertainment purchased the team in 2011 and relocated them to Winnipeg, Canada. Their name is what the Phoenix Coyotes used to be called before 1996. The Jets will be in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference, where they will play at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.

Claude Noel has the pleasure of being the Jets' first head coach. He has been the head coach of a number of teams in various leagues: Roanoke Valley Rebels, the Dayton Bombers, and the Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League, Kalamazoo Wings of the International Hockey League, the Milwaukee Admirals and the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, and the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL.

The arena that will host the new Jets is the MTS Centre. It was constructed on top of a famed store, called the Eaton's retailer, which was built in 1909. With talk of an arena going on top of the retailer, resistance groups began to form around leaving the building as a historic site. Despite their resistance, the building was demolished on the basis of an arena being more beneficial to the town, but the new arena did incorporate several designs to give it a resemblance to the store. The arena's concourse also contains memorabilia from the store. The new arena was opened in 2004 with a seating capacity of 15,015 people, making it one of the smaller arenas in the NHL. Even though it is a small arena, it is still the 11th busiest arena in North America and 39th in the world.

The Winnipeg Jets are the new comers in the NHL, but an experienced coach is ready to guide them through the challenges they will face. Only time will tell if they will buckle under the pressure or explode into the NHL with a bang.
