Rocketing back onto the Billboard 200 after a 25-year hiatus, Toto the Southern Cali Prog rock band announced they are heading out on tour with English prog-rockers Yes. The tour kicks off August 7th “It’s an exciting time for us – we couldn’t ask for a better set-up” says Toto guitarist Steve Lukather to Billboard. “We’re hoping that one plus one equals three.” The 26-date tour starts at Foxwoods Casino’s Grand Theater in Mashantucket, Conn., crossing the United States with notable stops along the way including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Borgata Hotel & Casino Event Center in Atlantic City, the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, and the Greek Theater in Los Angeles before ending at the Hard Rock Casino in Vancouver on Sept. 12th.
Toto band mates are hoping this will earn them some new fans with their new edgier sound and up until now have avoided touring with the obvious people but say that “Yes is childhood heroes of ours so the pairing is a dream come true.” Toto XIV is the first album for the band in 10 years and it marks the return singer Joseph Williams, original keyboardist Steve Porcaro and original bassist David Hungate. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 98. According to Ludather, fans can expect a mix of new songs, deep cuts and their signature hits “Africa,” “Rosanna” and “Hold the Line.” They want people to walk away from each experience saying, “Wow, I didn’t think they were going to be that good!”
